My son has a BA in Philosophy (And another in Communications) and I asked him what he thought about this situation and his advice was to take the Upper Level class because it gets one of your UL requirements out of the way and Ethics is one of those subjects that requires deep thinking, so the lower level class won't necessarily be a cake walk. Some of his hardest classes were at the 100 level. Don't be afraid to take UL classes because of their level. His favorite class ever was Environmental Ethics and it was a 300 level class and he took it his Freshman year.
