There's also been a HUGE push in the last 30 years towards college, even for those who shouldn't be going (hence the huge dropout rate). Go to a high school right now, and see what happens if you say you don't want to go to college!! All the teachers and counselors act like you're going straight to hell! Your life is basically over if you don't go on to college, you're destined to live under a bridge in a cardboard box. And, I hate to say this, but I'm not exaggerating. Even though MOST people don't go on to get their degrees, you can't actually say that out loud. It's heresy.
