Most of the options are still available - except ALEKS and a couple of the free courses (NFA, Kaplan, some expired courses here and there).
You can look at my spreadsheet which has ALL of the options I think. BJCheung based his on mine, but took away a bunch of options.
I think it really depends on how you learn best as to the fastest way to get through courses. If you're a good tester, Saylor, TECEP's, Davar, Coopersmith - are all good options if you can't get to a testing center. If you prefer a course, SL, Study.com, Shmoop, Ed4Credit are good choices. Just depends on you, and how you want to do it. Some stick mostly with one provider, because once you get used to doing it a certain way, that can become the easiest way to plow through stuff. But others take courses here, there, and everywhere (I'm one of those). I've taken CLEP, DSST, ALEKS, TECEP, Study.com, Ed4Credit, Sophia, Kaplan, Penn Foster, The Institutes, etc. Sometimes it was because something was especially cheap or free, others it's because it was easier, others for different reasons. All platforms had their pros and cons, and all did the job for me.
