I just posted this in the other Guardian scholarship thread, but since we can't merge threads...
I'm pretty sure the scholarship invites are done in a batch with a limit on the number accepted per month (or perhaps a max number in the program at one time.) So, invites are probably done in order of when someone applied based on the number of slots available. If you apply late, you get bumped to the next batch.
I also know they aim to line up the scholarships to all begin at the first of the month, so chances are if you haven't heard anything (check your spam folder) within the first few days of a new month, you're probably not in that month's batch.
