I thought the thread (and therefore the comments) was supposed to be about the idea of Universal Basic Income, which is not a new idea or a US specific idea. I thought it might be refreshing to read a well thought out paper about UBI and the challenges all countries face in implementing a version of it in today's economic and political climate.
