Straighterline grading?
#4
The way I keep track is that the course is worth 1000 points, so every time you earn points on your quiz, record them. All SL classes require you to earn 70% which is 700 points out of 1000.
Don't pay attention to the percentages -you can work from that of course, but my way is less mathy lol. While SL displays your %, instead go look at your points for each quiz.

So, you should write down something like this:

Quiz 1: 125 points possible --> your points are ________
Quiz 2: 125 points possible --> your points are ________
Midterm: 250 points possible --> your points are ________
Quiz 3: 125 points possible --> your points are ________
Quiz 4: 125 points possible --> your points are ________
TOTAL going into final exam: __________

Remember, 700 points is passing.

You probably have 720 points already, which means you've already passed.

If you're like my son (C's get degrees) you can just click "A" all the way down and call it done. If you want to explore more scenarios, read on:

I calculated your points by taking the percent you said you had (96%) times the points possible so far - you don't have to do this, you can just find your points and add them, but either way works. (750 x .96 =720)

If you want to know how many points you need on your final to get a certain score, that involves an additional step, but it's not that tricky. Simply determine what you want to score (let's say I want an A, which is 90%, so I need 900 points). If I already have 720, I simply subtract what I have from what I need (900-720 = 180 points on the final needed). To go one more step and see what that would be as a percent, take 180 divided by 250 = .72 move your decimal, you need 72% on the final to get a 90% in the course.

Edit to add: you can check the math to make sure you're right. You have 720 plus the 180 needed on the final and the target is 900. So, it's correct.
