want a regional B.A. degree

I'm still a slacker and I still want a degree. I understand that those tend to be mutually exclusive, but sometimes they can coexist successfully. Maybe not efficiently, maybe the effort of not following the rules may appear to some as more effort than taking the traditional route. I now have 21 university hours for a total of 132 hours with a 3.426 overall GPA.

What about a competency based degree from NAU? I don't see a capstone for competency based degrees. If they are as liberal as TESU in accepting CLEP, DSST, and transfer credits, then maybe all I'd need to complete a liberal arts degree are foreign language courses. I think it would be nice to have some proficiency in a foreign language.

"The university will accept up to 64 transfer credits from a combination of regionally accredited two-year institutions and the American Council on Education (ACE) Alternative Credit Project."

This sounds like standard university lingo limiting community college level transfer credits but allowing additional hours of upper level courses to be transferred from another 4 year university. They aren't overly generous on CLEP credits and are stingy on DSST credits. It looks like I have about 72 hours at NAU. I might be able to use CLEP, DSST and ACE to increase that to 102 hours. 16 hours of Spanish would get me to 118. There are multiple ifs.

NAU might be a good option for someone to plan for earlier on, before taking a lot of DSSTs intended for TESU.
