Byrd joined the KKK as a 20 something in the 1940s, but eventually realized how disgusting he had been, renounced the organization, and spent decades on policy actively fighting the organization and discriminatory policy.
You are going to tell me with a straight face that if Trump had a love fest with a former Grand Wizard Lizard (whatever they call themselves) of the KKK, you would be cool with it?
And yeah, how convenient the Grand Lizard disavowed his former Klan membership....you know....when he started seeking public office.
The guy says "...I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds...", and then two years later he starts his professional career as a public "servant" in elected office. Give me a break.
And Sanatone -- I agree with Trump's level of speech, spot on. But it's a bit of a dig to suggest that he only attracts people who "don't want to spend too much energy on brain power". In other words, you are calling them idiots. That's some type of fallacy or something. For the sake of it, I'll grant you that all Trump supporters are concerned with conserving precious brain power. About 1/4 of Bernie's donations are coming from unemployed folks. I suppose the candidate promising the most free stuff would have a lot of support from this demographic. It would be rude if I said these folks don't want to spend too much energy on gainful employment.
