Having issues getting started
#3
With the Big 3, there's no real downside to applying to the college up front. That way you get whatever credits you might already have evaluated and slotted into a degree plan, and you lock in the catalog requirements. The worst that can happen is that you end up having to pay another application fee later if you never get started taking tests or courses at the school. I usually suggest that people go ahead and apply to all three. I found it VERY motivating to see all my old CC credits in my TESU evaluation all accepted and slotted into my degree requirements.

There are a number of options for getting your GenEds done. There are tests for almost everything, or you can do courses, or use free courses to study for tests...Saylor.org StraighterLine, and lots of others. you just need a list of credits to fulfill, and people here can tell you where to go!

The most important advice I can give is to START! Fill out an application for the college, or schedule a course somewhere, or make an appointment for a CLEP so that you have a deadline to study to. Do something to get yourself going. Do it today, if at all possible. I started out applying to TESU, then after a bit, I signed up for Saylor's Intro to Computers. At the end of three weeks, I had my academic evaluation in hand, and I was sending off my first new credits to the school. There was no stopping me after that.

As they say at Nike, "Just do it."
