I'm curious if anyone has created their own PDF of a book so that searching would be much easier.
:patriot:For the website admin, please note, I am not talking about any copyright violation (at least none that I know of) and no redistributing them to other people. I'm simply asking if anyone had attempted to scan a book they already own into PDF format. Obviously the Ctrl-F function to search a PDF is significantly faster than searching through a paper book.
I had thought about buying a duplex scanner, and then cutting the spine off the book and running the pages through to create a searchable PDF. The investment in the scanner and used books would be significantly cheaper than the cost of a few of the books I've seen in PDF form.
If you already own the book, breaking it down into a format you can better use doesn't seem to be a bad idea. I see there are some services out there who will do it for you but if you are going to be taking quite a lot of classes online, particularly with Straighterline, for example, it may be more cost effective to do it yourself.
Another note to the admin: I am absolutely NOT advocating anything that should be prohibited to discuss. However, I highly value this forum and if for any reason you feel the need to remove this post I would understand. I don't want to get banned or anything simply for asking about this. LOL :ack:
