It's a shame that she lied. I don't know if she was generally ever sorry about her lie because she never made any effort to come forward and correct it.
There is one unexpected thing I take from this though. She apparently was good at her job or she wouldn't have been promoted so many times. It is clear that with the right training and absent a college degree, one can excel in a setting full of other "academics." I'm not, by the way, advocating that you lie about your credentials. But, the current atmosphere of the market place is that if you don't have a BA or BS or a graduate degree, you cannot successfully handle the types of positions she filled and that is obviously not true.
