Going for American Lit and English Lit after A&I Lit. Good idea?

Unfortunately, this will be my first time with any english class type of experience in 15 years. Most of my experience in high school consisted of using a book for a pillow and I somehow ended up with C's.
Anyway, the stuff seems to be coming back to me and based of what I've been reading, the 2 subjects really aren't that bad. |
