I Almost Received a Promotion

They need to at least appoint an interim chair now. It'll be a few years before I finish, so I'm sure they will have a permanent one by then unless that person quits or transfers. Besides, once I'm finished, I want to get a job at a real college. The school I'm at now is not an institution of higher learning.

That makes sense. I was under the impression that you were further along with your PhD. Well, if you can do it where you are then you can do it anywhere. Just keep putting in the hard work.
