The FUNNIEST thing happened to me...RE: Charter Oak's Credential Evaluation Program

I mentioned COSC's concentration in paralegal studies a few weeks ago, but the OP was not the least bit interested. The OP also didn't like the idea of getting a criminal justice, liberal studies, or social science degree. When one gets an Individualized Studies degree at COSC, that person has a degree in Individualized Studies. The made-up concentration is not an official title. I don't see how this is any better than social science or any other option. If someone is overly concerned with degree titles, then Individualized Studies could possibly be the worst choice someone could make. IIRC, the OP was also opposed to TESC's title of Learner Designed Area of Study. This is exactly the same thing.

Some things have transpired since our conversations (such as my conducting more research). I learned that some of the options I wanted to pursue were not feasible given the makeup of my credits and you (and KayV) helped me to see that actually. I did not want to earn what I've heard people refer to as a "useless" degree (I know that's argumentative) but after trying to figure out what I might be able to get in other areas, I realized that I'd still need a year or more worth of credits to fulfill those requirements so I was becoming accustomed to the idea of getting a degree in something that I had not considered before. Forgive me for my ignorance.

I wasn't vehemently opposed to anything you said but I did have preferences. I apologize if I came off as indifferent to your ideas. I could tell you had a tone in your responses as you became frustrated with my thought processes and my trying to feel my way through what was best. Most of my posts have just been my thinking out loud (see meaning of my username ) and frankly I did not have a good understanding of how these different programs worked. I was not interested in a degree in paralegal studies in the beginning because I was not sure that's something I wanted to do permanently and most importantly because I would have needed quite a few legal courses in order to obtain a BA in paralegal studies. I did not have a lot of legal courses under my belt that were transferable. I have a certificate in paralegal studies with courses that were not transferable. I knew I had a ton of language credits from DLI so I was TRYING to do something with what I had. Now that I know that my CP credential was worth 32 credits that would count towards a paralegal studies degree (you didn't know about my CP credential either) I do need to consider all of my options. Obviously when I posted about TESC I was feeling my way around and trying to figure out what I could obtain reasonably with what I have. I'm sorry if you feel as though you wasted your time helping me or that I dismissed your valid ideas. If nothing else, you were helpful and you did cause me to think about what I really want. I appreciate ALL of your advice even if I didn't take all of it I took it all to heart.

In addition to all that I just finished a PPT presentation in a Career Assessment class that required that I look at my MBTI, Career Clusters and Holland Codes. Ironically, everything kept pointing back to paralegal (and this was after our interactions) so I thought perhaps this is confirmation that I'm already on the right path.

BTW, YOU are one of the reasons I checked with COSC so I did listen to you. You say I didn't take any of your advice but then you see I still contacted them.
