The Duggars and CollegePlus

[Publius]

The beautiful thing about this world is that it is full of different types, kinds, shapes, and varieties of people. This is why service industries must spend a lot of time on the front end identifying their target market and figuring out how to reach them, because if they miss the mark, all the people who do not need their services will just shrug and let the business go under, thinking "no loss, who needs their help anyway?" It's business. If you disagree with or find their services useless, it simply means you're not part of their target market. If you agree with their purpose and see the benefit, you are likely part of their target market. Pretty simple.

The fact that they are in business says to me they provide a service to someone somewhere that felt they needed it. Could those same people have done the same searches many of us did and used that $3k somewhere else? Sure! But they either lacked the confidence or resourcefulness to do it on their own, for whatever their own reasons were. Whether you or I agree with it since we were clearly able to accomplish the exact same result without wasting $3,000 is irrelevant. Their customers find a benefit because they spend the $3k and do not turn around and demand refunds when their expectations were not fulfilled. If they were providing a scam service, their reports to BBB and Attorneys General would be through the roof. Yet, their customers applaud the services they offer. So, they must be providing some service someone feels beneficial. You and I do not need to agree, because we are not their market.

It's how service industry works. Some people need specific services, others don't. The ethical or unethical nature of the question is answered by their customers, not their non-customers. Despite disagreements with the two groups, somehow, the planet keeps on spinning and we'll all be okay whether or not College Plus has its doors open.

Well said. Quite well said. :iagree:

They're like a building contractor. There's lot's of DIY people, and we're basically that DIY college community. Unfortunately, there's still lots of people that could do it themselves, but just don't know or want to. These people aren't wrong per se and or bad, and there's also no reason to HATE CollegePlus or organizations like them.

And, MAN!!! The horse has been dead for a while, and he's still getting beat up... what could he possible be now?!? Call it day folks. ;D If minds were going to be changed, it would of happened already. If future people are to stumble across this, there's really nothing to say that hasn't already been said at least 2-3 times.
