Is there a trick to have TESC discuss degree plans with you?

I have paid the 75.00 to apply and I have been doing ALEKS and SL classes in the meantime before I enroll. But when I call the advisor line they are so short and abrupt and never want to answer my questions. If they want me to go there you would think they would make time for me! I do plan on enrolling once most of the outside courses are done. Is this normal? Do they have certain restrictions of what they can talk about if your not enrolled? Once the new requirements go into effect will they automatically change the academic evaluations? I was told I had to enroll to see where my classes fall. ??? Does that mean what I'm looking at is inaccurate? This can be so frustrating sometimes.
