A Big 3 or DL degree and wroking in a non-profit?
#1
I was just curious as to whether anyone here has a Big 3 degree and works in a non-profit or know someone who does? My goal is to work in an NPO in a counselor/advocate position. I'm in a B&M undergrad social work program and its going to take me at least 2 1/2 years to graduate. The vast majority of the job postings I'm looking just want a BA in social work "or related field" and there is no real financial incentive to get a BSW. I've been considering switching to a Big 3 school to shave time off my undergrad degree, get an undergrad degree and head for either an MSW or MS in counseling psych, both of which are offered by my local state university.

I guess what I'm really asking is: did your DL degree and testing prepare you well for the position you wanted? I know this largely a matter of effort in vs benefit out, but did the school/professors give quality guidance?

And last but not least, did anyone ever pick on your DL degree during the biring process? I'm sure I'm just being being paranoid, but living in an area with so many schools wth names employers recognize makes me feel like they'd question why a CT or NJ state school was on my resume during dates when I was clearly here and could have gone to one of them.

Thanks in advance for any help or insight Smile
