You have been given some great options, but I do want to address the whole 6 month vs. 3 month retake period. First of all, this is only for CLEP. I do not see anything on any candidate materials that addresses this, so many of you may not even be aware of the possibility.

CLEP does allow candidates to retake exams after 3 months if the candidate's institution waives the standard retake period. There must be a written request from the institution and this request must be from the academic dean, dean of students or registrar (not an adviser, faculty member or a test center administrator). The letter must be on the institution's letterhead and must provide very specific information about the candidate and the exam they originally took. The letter must be mailed to CLEP, and CLEP also requires a letter from the candidate where they state their reason for requesting a retest. If an institution is interested in pursuing this option and has questions, they should call CLEP Services and talk with a rep who can provide them with the details.

I hope the test center filed a report regarding the computer issues you had to deal with. If they did, and if your institution is agreeable to waive the standard 6-month retake period, you may be able to retake this same exam in 3 months. Otherwise, you have the options available that the others have suggested. Good luck!
