The army is very selective these days. I found this on a forum site.

"I worked for my last year in recruiting in the operations section. It was my job to review all tattoos for content and size. Toward the end of 2010 we were getting much stricter with tattoo placement and size. For example if a tattoo was on the back of your neck even the smallest part of it was visible you would be disqualified from joining the Air Force. When the amount of people needed by the military goes down the standards and adherence to policy goes up!!"

Well, it also depends on the MEPS you attend and the recruiter you get. I don't think If I buy into what that recruiter said, either. I saw a couple of people at MEPS, back in 2007, get denied due to their body artwork. And back then they were handing out enlistment bonuses like crazy. I also notice tattoos impacting your promotion points, as well. The only time see it not playing a crucial role in your rate of promotion is those in the SF community. Though, even then, it's still a crap shoot.
