Why are we still in Afghanistan?

Hello Rugbyman, (I really hope you will read this.)

I am a young tax payer and I’d like to express my appreciation for your service. Though I may not sound like a “young” tax payer, nevertheless I am.
It honors me to hear that you are not only serving your country, but also serving with the personal purpose of honoring your country and the people in it.
I have always looked up to soldiers, for these reasons, they are courageous, loyal, strong, trustworthy, patriotic etc. Like policemen and other civil servants I thought they were and wanted to protect their country and the people in it.
But my reasons for admiration of you all was actually proved for me, in what you said.
I assume that all those characteristics I mentioned are a part of every soldier. However I appreciate hearing it from you.
