Revisited American Public University - Some guidance please
#4
gmagerr Wrote:This is a section form another thread I had started earlier http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...eeded.html, but I think it should be discussed separately. When I first mentioned APU, one of the responses was you needed to do a residency there. I called them yesterday, and the adviser I spoke with said no, that was only for the military, and there was no residency required. I also received some advice from the other thread that I would be required to take 30 credits from them, but I forgot to ask the adviser about that. There was a link to a document in that post that brought up something from the American Military University, not the American Public University and I can't find anything that says I'd have to do 30 credits there. I'm curious as the APU unofficial transcript evaluation showed they would accept 48 of my ITT credits. Has anyone received a degree from APU? Would I need to take the 30 credits there?

Thanks

AMU / APU is the same school.

Note: Undergraduate students who apply at the associate level may transfer up to a maximum of 45 credit hours; those applying at the bachelor's level may transfer up to 90 credit hours. Students with no prior college experience may have their ACE-evaluated military or professional experience considered for transfer credit.

You will have a 15 credit residency for Associates and 30 for Bachelors(give or take). For Masters I believe you can transfer 15 also.
Hope this helps,
