i remember when I was in 3rd grade and my teacher told me that nobody knows the actual source of gravity. She said gravity is a mystery. I thought really hard about that and came up with a hypothesis. I realized that the Earth had more gravity than the moon and that the sun had more gravity than the Earth. So I thought that maybe the Earth's molten core was the source of gravity. The moon does not have a molten core and of course the Sun does. So I told my teacher my thoughts and she really didn't know. I told my mom too and she said to call Pap. Pap was a 9th and 10th grade science teacher at the time, so I called him and told him I had an idea about gravity. He gently told me that heat didn't produce gravity and reminded me that the moon does have some gravity and that its effects drove the tides. He said that the power of gravity is based on the mass of an object and its distance from another object. I was a little upset but I never forgot that.
