ECE World Population
#1
I have just 12 more exams to go! However, a few of them are gonna have to be ECE's so that I can get all my upper level arts and sciences. This leads me to my questions: has anyone taken World Population yet? and if so, what resource did you find most useful? I don't want to buy (or read) 6 books for one exam so any feedback would be most appreciated. Smile

Along the same lines, if anyone has taken (or is planning) ECE's Foundation of Gerontology and/or Psychology of Adulthood and Aging, please let me know what resources you found for those. I'm told by EC that there's a lot of overlap, which is good.

Thanks!!!!

Ok first of all, I'm personally shocked to see that I posted my original note at the beginning of April and I had 12 exams to go. It's June and this is one of my last ones! (I hope.)

As I'm studying, I'm finding it to be a hodgepodge of stuff. I'm not sure where to focus.

I mean, I have the EC guide, I have the book, I have the supplemental tools, including the prb stuff, and I have my experience form other ECE's. However, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to get any feedback from anyone who has taken it as to what they think it focuses most on, what little detail seemed to help the most, what was hard about it, what was easy about it...

Here are some specific questions I have:

--How much should I focus on the fertility and mortality formulas? Should I be prepared to do math using them or do I just need to recognize them?

--How much detail goes into the numbers? Do I need to know lots of details or can I generalize and still do OK?

Please don't make me beg! OK, I'm begging! Smile

I agree that this is one of the easiest ECE's. The outline and recommended book are all I used. This was actually the first ECE I took. After taking PAA, Gerentology, and Lifespan I noticed some overlap between those and this test. Know good generalities where major areas (say an entire continent or the US/Canada) are within the mix (population, fertality, mortality, ect). It's been a while since I took this one so I don't remember to many details other than it wasn't to bad for my first test (took this ECE before any DSST or CLEP).

Thanks Jack and Rob, I appreciate the feedback. It's a relief to see it's considered one of the easiest. I'm so nervous about this one, I really want it to be my last one and don't want to do anything to reduce my chances of passing.

I'd also love to hear from anyone else who's taken it!!!

And I'll definitely post my results when I'm done. I take it Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed for me. :o

In another hour and half. I'm running straight to the college as soon as I close the store. Then I'll try to switch mental gears for a couple of hours before coming back to the store and switching gears again. This is crazy but I am so happy to find a way that makes it possible to earn a degree that it doesn't really matter how crazy. Thanks for asking!

OMG! Girl, do I know that feeling. Let's see it's 7:00 my time which means it's about 5:00 your time. So that means you'll be taking it at roughly 6:30 your time. You can totally do it. Take your clep study guide print out and re-read the items while waiting to start. Oh, and don't forget to stop by Starbucks on your way to the testing center. I find that a half-caf soy sugar-free vanilla latte helps me be most alert for the exam. Big Grin You're going to do so great!! I'm sending you lots of good soc mojo!!!
