Police Academy Credit at TESC? Anyone get lucky?
#1
Anyone current or former law enforcement officers out there lucky enough get credit for your Police Academy at TESC that is not a New Jersey resident? I recieved my academic eval and recieved nothing. I figured it would cover my Intro to Law Enforcment for my degree plan, but zero applied.

what state are you in? some states offer ace credit. it seems that they would at least give you something for it.

Did you train with northeast, east or central Texas police academy? I did a basic college search and it looks as if the local community colleges offer about 20 credits depending upon which one you attended. I am thinking that maybe you could apply to the local community college and take one course to get the credit for your experience and then submit that transcript to TESC. You would be able to do that I believe and it would knock of 20+ credits. That is a lot of life experience you would not be cashing in on.

BTW, Have you talked to TESC advising about your prior experience or did you just go off the eval that they gave you? I think that if you have not asked them you should. They give Philadelphia and other tri-state area police credit so Texas should be not different.

I went through Angelina College Community College in Lufkin, Texas. So far, I have only used the Academic Eval they provided and have not spoken to anyone at TESC.

Well you should be able to request a transcript from Angeline Community College and get that sent to TESC. I would try talking to someone at TESC as well. I notice via your degree plan (which is very well put together I might add) that you are seeking your BSBA.

I wanted to know if you really wanted that degree for work/personal reasons or can your degree be in another area such as liberal arts? The reason that I am asking is because you would be able to apply so many more credits using other avenues such as FEMA, Straighterline, Penn Foster, CLEP and Dantes.

The trick which TESC as with all schools is that your credits have to fit into your degree plan. With the BSBA program there is very little room for freedom. Depending upon what Angelina Community College transcribed the credits as and what TESC will do with them is a different story. They may apply them as general ed, free electives, or may apply them as criminology or something else. So even though you would have the gained credit you may not be able to apply it to your current degree plan.

Myself I would love my degree in psychology but if liberal offers me more credits I am going for it. I've been procrastinating on this degree for like forever it seems.

Please ignore the previous post as I am long winded and missed the new post Smile OMG... YeahSmile!!!.... So I know that you are revisiting your options now aren't you Smile. If you switch over you can also knock out the 25 fema credits and 3 nfa credits and that will bring you up to almost 50 credits.
