Intro to Bussiness DSST Question.
#1
I am planning on taking Western Civ II and Intro To Business.
(it's sorta a big deal since I have to spend $350 to get to the facility with the Plane + Taxi.)

What is the DSST scoring system is and if I can pass it with the knowledge I have acquired from some CLEPS I've passed.

My friend is in the same boat I am in CLEP wise and passed with a 425.
They couldn't find any resources regarding where that score is other then it's a pass.
Is there any information you have regarding the scoring system ?

The tests I've taken that are related to theIntro to Bussiness DSST test. Intro to Business.
Macroeconomics(55), Microeconomics(58), Business Management(65), Marketing(68) and flunked Financial Accounting with a 45(wow terrible, I will own it in 6 months I hope)

What do you think?
My friend who took it told me I could almost take it cold since I've taken the same tests he has done.
(for what I know he scored the CLEP equivalent of 50)

I'd really value your guy's opinions regarding this Smile
Thanks for your time,
Josh

What exactly is your question? 400 is passing... so he passed, unless I'm missing something. I took about the same exams that you took and I took intro to business with no study on the same day I took 2 other exams and I passed with a 418.

Also I've heard a lot of people that failed the CLEP financial accounting exam took the DSST version right after and passed it... I'm going to be taking the DSST version next week.

Take a couple more while you are there if you can to save on time and airfare. I bet there is something else you could pass like analyzing literature or principles of supervision or marketing with some short focused study.

:iagree:

If you've taken Management, Supervision should be a no-brainer. I never recommend taking a test cold, but I took both Intro to Business and Supervision with no real study last week just based on all the other tests I've studied for. Take a look through the specific feedback forum and IC cards and you should have more than enough to pass both of those.

Sad What a bummer that you have to spend that much money to get there. Just goes to show how expensive B&M classes are. Lol.. you can fly to a testing center and it's still cheaper than taking a class.

I figured it out.
You need around 50% to pass and the max you can score is 500.
He did well. My fear was he squeaked by and I wouldn't be so lucky.

I've taken already marketing, analyzing and interpreting literature, and principles of management Smile
Supervision is a good idea.

I'll look into Supervision for Dantes and find some study material.
I used IC but in the end I dropped it a half dozen CLEPs ago and I've scored decently but maybe I should start it back up.
Yeah I know what you mean,
Excelsior would cost me $28,000 using their courses even with the CLEPs I've taken so far....

Umm... no. No one knows what % correct you need to pass because the test makers don't release that info. What you do know is that the passing score, in this case a 400, is what the average college "C" student would have gotten on the CLEP/DSST if he took the class and then the same exam you did. You have to do as well as him/her or better in order to pass them exam.

On exams that are "easier" you may need 70% or more right to pass, but on an exam that is "harder" and has a much higher fail rate, this lowers the curve in your favor so you may only need 30% or so right. The percentages I gave are just for demonstration sake because as I said no one really knows.

A lot of people take Money and Banking or one of the harder exams and think "Man I failed that" when they hit report scores and then are shocked when they get a 68 or something.

Also make sure your school doesn't count CLEP management and DSST supervision as the same credits... I know some schools do that.

I understand. I'll try my best and see what happens.
Thanks for telling me that my school might consider both tests as the same credits. I'll give Excelsior a ring and see.

gia-sal75,
Yeah I did find that and am not sure what to precisely think with that information along with what MA2 said.
