MISin08 Wrote:Nice thread with list of low cost MBAs.
Phillip A certain user of that site, whose intelligence and charm are world renowned, mentioned that the lowest cost RA MBA is from Eastern New Mexico University. 30-credits, at $180 per credit, it is about 1/4 of the price of Excelsior's MBA and has ACBSP accreditation.
In fact, the least expensive AACSB accredited MBA, Jacksonville State University, is less than 1/2 the cost of Excelsior's MBA. Even UMass Lowell's MBA is less expensive and UMass Amherst is in the same ballpark.
Basically, if the main issue is cost, DON'T go to Excelsior. If the programs they offer are sufficiently unique, are what you are looking for, and are affordable to you, then maybe they are the right place for you

According to the link below, grad, on-line tuition for JSU is $353 / ch, making the total on the general MBA (30 ch) $10590 plus fees (if any).
JSU - Office of the Bursar - Tuition and Fees
It would appear, at least via the math of those at DI, that the University of La - Monroe with its $197.90 / ch tuition (30 ch) is the new lowest AACSB MBA at $5937 plus fees (if any).

The OP referred to a "thesis or project" -- I wonder if s/he refers to EC's Liberal Studies master's. What's a lower-cost alternative to that? CSUDH HUX and WNMU MAIS come to mind.

Phillip Amberton University's Master of Arts in Professional Development. It is basically Liberal Studies program, allowing you to mish-mosh just about any selection of courses you can think of and apply it to finishing the degree. It's $225/credit and you can transfer in 12 credits.

A previous poster said it wasn't recognized by 2 MBA accredition associations.
Excelsior offers a Masters of Arts but I wanted to make certain it is recognized.
There are a lot exceptions to rules in this accredation thing. I want to make sure
Excelsiors Masters is readily recognized even thought the school is regionally accredited

I'm not sure why this question would have come up though.. Strange.

Excelsiors Masters is readily recognized even thought the school is regionally accredited For some organizations RA is all that matters. For others, program accreditation is important. Excelsior's undergrad business programs are accredited by IACBE, which is like the red-headed stepchild of business accreditations, but it's better than nothing, which is what TESC's business programs have. Their MBA program lacks program accreditation.

EC Masters are regionally accredited, it's their MBA's which are not recognized by the MBA accrediting agencies. My post was directed to the poster who asked about their MBA program specifically.

Not that I know first hand, but nothing in the tremendous amount of research I have done suggests that IACBE accreditation is useful for anything. Employers don't know what it is, doctoral programs don't consider it and it is not on the CHEA list of accreditors. I'm not saying that it doesn't effectively evaluate quality (that, I actually do not know at all), but it seems to be a pretty meaningless accreditation. One might as well say that their program is approved by the MCOMAGT... the Maniac Craniac One Man Accreditation Group Thingy.
