Just received the following email from EC...
Excelsior College will no longer grant credit to any student enrolling on or after September 1, 2010, for any GRE Subject Test. This decision was approved by the Academic Affairs Council on August 11, 2010.
Should any currently enrolled student wish to use GRE Subject credit, they will need to contact their advisor and have an official GRE transcript sent in by September 1, 2011.

Having taken several GRE subject exams, it's sad to see that EC will no longer award credit for passing GRE scores. I wonder why the policy changed...

Which exams did you take? I'm just curious.

I took Sociology, Psychology, and History. Sociology was by far the easiest. History and Psychology required LOTS of study. I used REA for all three. Credit through EC.

I thought the Sociology and History GREs were discontinued a decade ago. Or is that when you took them? I might have taken the History GRE had they still offered it. That would have been fun.

Yes, the History and Sociology GRE's were discontinued a long time ago! I took the Sociology GRE during the last year it was offered.

I don't know but the subject GREs have been dying off on their own. They aren't nearly the first, second or third most important thing that grad schools look at nowadays. It might be less of an Excelsior decision and more just the way of the graduate world. I'll make a prediction: the psychology subject test will be discontinued in 5 years time. After that will be Lit.

Welcome to the forum!
If you did not enroll at Excelsior by 9/1/2010, then check with Charter Oak State College and Empire State College. They may still be accepting GREs for credit. Please let us know what you find out.
