Need advice on which CLEPS to take.
#1
Hi,
I have to take 4 CLEPS in order to meet a depth in History to complete my BS in Liberal Studies for Excelsior. Two have to be in upper and two in the lower.

I'm considering Civil War & Reconstruction and Rise & and Fall of the Soviet Union for the upper. For the lower I'm looking at History of the US I and II as well as Western Civ. I and II.

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on which to take in the lower (History of US I and II vs. Western Civ. I and II) and if I should take the lower level first followed by the upper level. If I've overlooked anything, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

(Thanks Alissa for your recommendation on the upper level exams)

I would think that taking the US History pair as lower would help with studying for the Civil War & Reconstruction exam due to some overlap. But honestly, go with whichever subject you feel most comfortable with or have the greatest interest in first. That way you can knock out that exam(s) and move on to the others.

Hope this helps.

Hi!

I have taken 3 of your choices, US History I and II and Civil War. You can read my feedback here:

I don't know which exam I would choose to complete a depth in history, yet.

I assume you need the extra upper-level credits to complete your degree, since it is not required for a depth. I think it is a good idea to get them as part of your depth when possible. For someone reading this who may get confused, a depth at Excelsior is 12 credits - 9 lower-level credits and 3 upper-level credits in a single discipline.
