Math Clep
#1
BCan anyone provide any advice or tips on taking the math CLEP? I am taking it tomorrow and I am extremely nervous. Will also be taking the Computer Science CLEP but I feel a little more comfortable about that one.

One thing I would avoid is the Peterson's practice exams, they are way too hard. The Rea exams are closer to the real thing. Otherwise, I am not a great one to ask because it had been 30+ years for me and I only went as far as Algebra 1. So as I have said in a previous post....If I can do it, anyone can.

I am glad to hear that because I tried the Peterson exams and it was very hard, very discouraging. I almost started to cancel tomorrow. Thanks again for the advice. I appreciate. Hopefully all will go well tomorrow.

Seriously Peterson's are worth to take a shot. . Exam was tough and many of questions were twisted couldn't understand head or tail.!!!! The type of question were similar to Peterson. . I took CLEP original test TODAY n got 53. pass!!!!!!

Petersons test 1,2 & 3 are 60%, 45% & 50% respectively.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate the assistance. I am disappointed because I took the math clep and failed. I got a 42. I will have to wait 6 months to retake the exam so I may not graduate this year. Bummer. Do you think I should study with the Peterson next time. All advice is definitely welcomed and appreciated.

Maybe not! Does your school accept ACE evaluated courses? If so look into ALEKS Algebra and combine it with IC Flashcards. Win/Win in my opinion. You just need to make sure that your school accepts ACE then you are set.

I am sorry to hear this.

I agree with Soupbone. Check to see what other options you have - ALEKS through ACE approval, CLEP, DANTES, or a course.

I am currently studying for this exam. If you do end up taking the CLEP for College Math again, I just read through a study guide last night, which was very good.

It is a free ebook called "Peterson's CLEP Success", which has review/teaching material for the 5 general CLEP exams and multiple practice tests for each - English Composition, Humanities, College Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and History.

http://www.petersons.com/pdf/free/CLEPSuccess.pdf

Note: This is not the same thing as the Petersons online practice tests. I have not taken those yet. From my experience with the Natural Science exam, I suspect that using this book first will help with the online practice tests.

I am also using the REA study guide.

I hope you find what you need, so you can graduate on time.

I don't know if my school accepts ACE but I will definitely ask. I appreciate the suggestions and advice. I will look into both of your suggestions. I am studying for the Info to Computer Science exam now. Hopefully I will do a lot better on this one. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
