I think we could cut WAY down on these spammers if there was some way to block newbies from using links in their sig line. These false posts are just a way to spam us with their crap through the links in their sigs.banghead

Slippery slope, cook. If we start restricting freedoms, the spammers have already won! :patriot:
Just kidding...the spams get moderator destroyed in fairly short order, so they don't really bother me personally. As long as the mods don't mind constantly doing that, I don't see a big problem.

Just click the report post button. That's the fastest way to get a mod's attention.
Looks like a tiny caution sign just above the Join Date/Location/Posts on the top right of the post.

I agree... I think this would be good if there was a way to do it, and would take a load off the mods as far as having to come in and clean up the messages (it seems like) almost every morning.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

We usually check the forum a couple of times a day and it really only takes about 15 seconds to delete the posts as well as permanently ban them. I believe one of us usually catches them in less than a day.
As some of you have so eloquently pointed out, we don't have lives and this is a task we look forward to....:willynilly:

In the new post link when I see lots of post by a new name I figure it is spam.
The moderators do seem to get rid of them fairly quickly, they must be on here almost as much as me

These ghost spammers who do indeed sign up to the forums and add their own self indulgent spam style ads in their signatures are usually dealt with swiftly and judiciously. There are not as many here on this forum as I also moderate another education forum and that one gets bombarded constantly.
I would say that if anyone comes across something that we may have missed please feel free to send me a PM and I'll take a look.
Thanks!
