Information Literacy from Penn Foster
#1
I just received my materials for Info Lit. I am taking it through Penn Foster but then transferring it to Excelsior. It seems so easy I feel like I am not doing it right, I mean right online it lets you review the exam before you take it, is this right or amy I doing something wrong? To me it looks like it could be done in an hour but I dont want to mess up if I am not viewing it right. Someone help please!!!

You're doing it right... Its just that easy... Just watch the wording on the Test (the first one.)
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Just remember that many people coming to college may not have had training on how to research online, which seems to be the main purpose of this, as schools who are teaching online run into problems with a surprising number of people at this time needing to prepare for careers requiring technology that have not been exposed in the past.

That was actually my main disappointment with this course. I really was hoping for something more depth-wise from it as far as both library and online research. It was all very basic. I dunno.. Maybe because of my age, and having spent a bunch of time in the library back before computers were readily available and having to use the card catalogs and such, and then last ten years of entering different searches in search engines...

Me, too. I teach online but since I have been pretty much self taught I was hoping to learn wonderful tips. I did learn a few things but overall, had figured most of it out.

Just as an aside -- I teach a 3-week pre-requisite course for prospective nursing students that is 100% online and many who are drawn to the career like working with people and hands on, and don't always have much in the way of computer skills -- especially some older students or moms returning to the workforce. I could see where this would be beneficial to those students. I think they should have to take a quick review and test to see first if they really would need something like this before taking that class as a lot of time is spent hand-holding, on my dime. Smile Usually once they get the hang of it and get over their initial fear, they then really enjoy it and talk about trying to take other courses online, due to the flexibility they offer.

If anyone has any other clues that are more advanced to help us do this type of researce or search engines that you think help other than Google and Ask.com, please let us know. I don't care for the new MS offering -- I like being in more control, thank you very much.
