They have the CLEP 2010 study guide that gives an outline of all the basic topics you should have an understanding of. If you can look at each topic and subtopic and list off a decent amount information than i wouldn't panic! I have been told by others who have taken the test to be well versed in the anatomy of plants and in cell functions! Know terms and theories well. I haven't taken the test yet so if anyone else can give any gauge of what it will be like or any other information please reply!

Hey..go to this site..Go to practice test site the 6th line..click yes and it'll show you where to take the test online...good luck!! by the way, I've been using this site to sorta help me out..when are you taking your clep?

evergreenmama Wrote:I just took the Biology CLEP today. I studied for 2 1/2 weeks and got a 69! The only Biology background I have was one course in high school, and an environmental science course I took this fall in college. I used IC and I watched some lectures from this website.

UC Berkeley Webcasts | Video and Podcasts: Bio 1B

The lectures are pretty in-depth but they did help me understand some concepts that I didn't fully understand from IC. I only watched a few of them. Just the topics I felt that I needed help with.

I also took one of the free Peterson's tests online. I didn't feel like that helped me a whole lot. It just freaked me out cause it made me feel like I didn't know anything even though I'd been studying a lot!

Otherwise, I didn't use any other resources. The topics that I think are important are meiosis and mitosis (know the orders of the phases, and what happens in each one), the order of classification (Kingdom, Phylum...), the main characteristics of organisms in each Kingdom, what happens in photosynthesis, the life cycle of plants, and the basics of genetics.

Most importantly...DON'T STRESS OUT!!! I was sure I was going to fail this test, and I ended up doing fine. 115 questions in 90 minutes. I got through the questions and still had 27 minutes left, but I am a pretty fast test-taker.

Good luck!! Let me know if you have any other questions.

hey! thank you for your reply..does the clep go into glycolysis, krebs, electron transport what goes in..out..the end product?? do they go into details? its driving me nuts!!

Just took Bio CLEP on Thursday. It was much harder than I expected. But I passed anyways Smile

The tests in the back of REA do NOT reflect the actual CLEP- the CLEP is harder and more comparable to Petersons if anything.

Advice for first time testers- write yourself note cards with all the difficult terms. It works for me....

I just took CLEP Biology today. It was much more difficult than the REA tests and significantly different in content from Peterson's.

I managed a 68, but was not comfortable at all.

Try not to freak out. That will do you a tremendous amount of good in and of itself. Believe in your ability.

Try to be as well rounded in the subject as you possibly can. Study from at least 3 different sources, 5 is probably better. Avoid reviewing the same things from the same source over and over. It may be better to review the topic from another source for the minor differences.

Best wishes as you prepare.
