Psychology of Adulthood and Aging is UP

peace123 Wrote:Has anyone taken this in October ?

According to the new study guide ( which is effective Oct. 1, 09) the exam is now 130 questions and uses IRT scoring.

In the past it seems the test had 150 questions and used CTT scoring.

I was curious if besides the reduced number of questions and scoring method, if there were other changes. I checked the feedback sections but the last posting was prior to October.

I cant help with this question, but would like know difference between CTT and IRT. Thanks

I got an A on it. Go through IC flash cards at least two times, get a text book that has a good glossary read over key terms and study the Gerontology sections that relate.

Put in about ten hours if you have not had any psyc classes.

Good luck

CTT is classical test theory and IRT is item response theory.

A search of Wiki might help explain the difference between these statistical/scoring methods.

Also info on each can be found here:

I need to take this exam this month. I have taken foundations of gerontology & lifespan developmental psych. so I'm hoping this won't be bad. I didn't realize they changed the format. If anyone else has taken this can you please provide any other feedback.

I am about to take A&A on 12/16. Any more advice on the test since the change? I just took Gerontology and got a C. I only used IC, studied about 1.5 weeks for a total of about 20 hours. (I got a B on Abnormal Psych, using IC and spark notes...about the same amount of study time)

Any more info on the new Adulthood and Aging exam would be appreciated.

I just took this on 12/8 - A. The advice in the specific feedback section is accurate. Study the IC for the exam, plus Foundations of Gerontology. Additionally, if you have not already taken Research Methods in Psych. I would review some of it as well.

Thanks Jogger!
I'll post my results after I take the test on the 16th.

OK. I took the 130 'new version' of Adulthood and Aging tonight. I scored an A. I took FoG last week and got a C on that test, which was 160 questions.
For A&A, there was a fair amount of overlap with FoG. I used IC almost exclusively but did in fact hit the following links mentioned by another poster:

I also used Psychology - Book Companion Site - Instructor
You can select a chapter, review flashcards, and take practice questions. There were a NUMBER of practice questions that showed up on the test. Some exactly the same, some slightly modified. Use this resource.
Good luck!!!
