Passed My College Math Today!!!
#1
I was skeptical about passing but I did it! I got 53/50! I was over the moon! The man upstairs was looking out for me because i couldn't score higher than 51 on practice tests...i was scoring 41-51 on the practice tests. Well guess what? The practice tests are way harder. The first 20 questions of the exam are pretty simple algebra and mean/median. Simple probability is also in there. Then questions 21-60 are a mix of hard and easy...know standard deviation! I had one of those questions...also know logic and sets. I did not have any truth tables. I honestly didn't know about 75% of the graphing questions either. Honestly the test was way easier than i expected, i was pleasantly surprised. I only needed a 50 and I got a 53 so i was thrilled...that was alll that way standing in the way of my business degree! I'm now done!

If you do the REA practice tests and score at least 50 you should be fine! The REA practice test questions are very similar to the actual test.

So when you say easy......I just went back and looked at the CLEP sample exam questions and its pretty much Greek to me. Did you buy the CLEP study guide by chance? Did ya think those questions were easy? I really don't think I can do this one but I REALLY don't want to take a Math course. If they make me take a Math placement test, I will be placed in -001 Math. I studied for about a month last fall and haven't looked at it since. Now I have forgotten almost all that I learned. I'm rambling...sorry. Math just makes me feel so defeated.

Hi Guys,

Well I'll start off by saying this...I'm horrible at math...I honestly didn't think I would pass. I studied the Comex study guide First and I highly recommend you start there and then do Instant Cert. Instant cert flashcards really helped me out. But then i still didn't get some of the concepts so i purchased a month of yourteacher.com yesterday and that helped me grasp some final concepts. Also the practice tests in REA for 2009 (actual Clep studyguide cd) really helped me out. The practice tests are pretty much the same as the test except reworded.

also this site is a huge help:

College Mathematics CLEP Free Study Guide

What was on my test: (I better write all this done while it's fresh in my head)

basic algebra ( x+3 = 5, 2X + 6 =) ---like first 5 questions were like this
probability (no cards or coin questions)
permutations and combinations
functions
means and median
venn diagram (1)
logic (converse, converse, and contrapositive)
cartesian product rule (1)
standard deviation (1)
reading graphs
graphing inequalities
geometry (circle and perimeter calculations)
range and domain
irrational and rational numbers
prime numbers
factoring
absolute value
sets

*no truth tables, no logarithms, no number bases.

***Honestly, if I passed anyone can pass. I only understand some basic concepts of the stuff that was on the test and I passed. Alot of it can kinda be figured out by using process of elimination. I studied for one month and I did it. If you don't understand the graphs just guess...if you know what a function looks like (vertical line test) and what constitutes a function you will be fine.

Hope this helped!
