jaryu Wrote:I guess from the spot/applicant ratio and the "health" direction, you're likely trying to go to med school right? Those are also generally some of the very few including law that almost always start only in the fall semester. So you only have 1 chance a year into them. If this is the path you are trying which science classes have you done, what were your MCAT and sGPA scores like?
No, it wasnt med school. It was actually for occupational therapy. There. I said it. I needed two semesters of anatomy and physiology with lab, and I took one so far, and got an A+. Taking the other one in the summer. And yeah, it does only start in the fall. Oh and I should mention that all my grades were either A's, A+'s, or A-'s.

Thanks, Ruddigore and everyone else. You guys actually made me feel so special. Yeah!! I'm 19 and applying to grad school!!! 20 and grad school will also be cool. But really, thanks everyone for the ideas and encouragement.
NAP, that is a REALLY good idea. It will still mean waiting a year, but then at least I'll have a better chance...

You might wanna consider doing a Post-Bacc or a Master Certificate program in nursing, health or something related to the field. It might make a big difference in your qualifications compared to the other applicants next year when you apply again, since the program seems to be quite competitive.

Hi Blueberry!
It takes a lot of courage to share your dreams and your disappointments. I'm glad you did. Both are helpful to all of us. It's very hard, but you deserve the chance to let us brainstorm and help you find the way to your goals! It has been really comforting to me to know that there are other ways in when the front door doesn't work. This is a group that won't accept "no" for an answer.

Blueberry, I am so sorry to hear what has happened. But my heavens you are just 19 and you have so much ahead of you. Just dig in and try again. My friends daughter applied to 2 schools for there PA program. Did not get into either one. Strong grades, great work ethic, worked in an ER, ect ect. She finds out the reason why is they felt she was just alittle to young. Someone told someone else and thats how it got back to her. So she is taking more classes working at another hospital and is re applying for the next dead line. That person said that they would not want a PA under the age of 25 handling there health care. So even though age should not matter and it is not suppose to matter it does. Higher level medical fields are very competitive and there really only are just a few slots available. Dust yourself off and go foward.

School of Graduate and Continuing Studies - Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT)
Stockton gets in a LOT of TESC grads and they are an excellent school. Maybe they can make it onto the list for next application?

LOL. That school was my first choice, and the first ones to give me a negative answer. LOL. But thanks for the suggestion. I probably will apply there again next year... my real concern is, now that I know how competetive the feild is, what happens if I don't get in next year? Then what? I didn't think it would happen this year, and I don't think it will happen again next year. But how do I know it won't?

Are you looking on both coasts, or are you trying to stay in one place? I agree with taking a couple of grad courses if you can (even if they aren't technically related to OT)
