Tami Wrote:Has anyone used the $99 Straiterline monthly package? When I read through their site it states $399 per course or $99 per month. Do you have to pay $399 to get the credit or can you pay $99 and finish the course in a month for credit?
You can just pay the $99. You can complete as many courses as you want during the month for the $99.

I did use the $99.00 option and was able to complete four courses within thirty days. I was very motivated and worked at least 8 hours per day. It was a great way to earn 12 credits and the Macro course gave me an excellent foundation for the Micro clep and the Social Science and History exam. I even had a few relevant questions on the DSST Race to Save the Planet test. Understanding basic economics has served me well and the $99.00 plan is legit!

Thanks for responding, it sounded like one of those "too good to be true" offers that I wanted to check out before I buy.

I took straighterline and transferred them to my local cc through transcript FHSU. However, none of the so called partner schools with straighterline will accept English Comp II, including Potomac, and Potomac will only accept if you are a student with them taking their courses (one 3 hour course $1350?). Do not recommend taking English Comp II through straighterline for this reason. As for TESC acceptance, I have no idea as I am not enrolled with them.

Each school has very specific courses that they will accept. COSC only accepts the four I took so be sure and check out your school's policy. StraighterLine is very helpful with information so don't be shy about asking questions.
I also thought that it was *too good to be true* and entered the course with hesitency. I was very pleasantly surprised! I had absolutely no problem with SL and found them very supportive.

Hello, I am interested in the Straighterline College Algebra course for my wife, the price is right but does anyone know if you need the text book? The downloaded textbook they require is $73.00 and looks like around $50.00 used. I am curious if any College Algebra text would do. I have been reading through the posts and did not see anything mentioned.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob if you are not locked into Straighterline, have you considered ALEKS? It only costs $20 per month and I was able to complete Beginning, Intermediate & College Algebra as well as Statistics in one months time. Granted I took off a few days from work and really buckled down to get it done.
Here is the link for the thread about ALEKS.

Good Luck.

Buy an older edition from Amazon or a similar online store.
You don't really need the exact edition.
You just have to pass the 5 examinations that are multiple choice.
All the material will be covered in the current or past edition of the text. Even if you use a different college algebra textbook. Dont miss the opportunity.. $99 for a RA credit class (or 2 or 3 or 4 if you are fast enough) is the best deal. I am taking classes with them and I am very happy.

I am just going to enroll in LSU Eng Comp 1002, instead of SL for Eng Comp.
250.00 and you have 9 months to complete it and 2 exams the final is just a 5 paragraph essay.

I took the Algebra I and English 101 from Straighterline through Fort Hays with absolutely no problem. My cc transferred my credits and it only cost me $198.00. I did both simultaneously in a one month period (actually less than one month), but I paid two $99.00 fees, one for each course.
I recommend Straighterline for these two courses.
