Hello,

I just took the test on Friday and failed the exam. I missed it by 1 question. I studied the Instantcert flash cards for two weeks and it was over 700 questions. I took the test and half the questions were not what I studied. I have to wait 180 days to take it again, but I think I'll find something else to take. As far as study material, I'm going to use the books that are referrenced for the actual course. Maybe on Half.com, I can get it for cheap. Maybe someone else can let us both know what study material to use.

Good Luck!!!!

Shalonda,

Wow, sorry to hear you failed.

I used the exam specific forum. Maybe I had an easier time because I took Drug and Alcohol and Gerontology first.

It looks like you are new up here, welcome! Your problem may be with your test taking techniques as much as the material. I constantly amaze myself with high grades when I don't know a number of questions on the exams. You need to get real good at eliminating incorrect answers. What you often find is that you don't understand the question, but you know certain answers are contradictory, or they belong to some other topic. Using this technique you can usually get your selection down to two possible answers.

You may want to consider some CLEPs, since you can get REA study guides for them, as well as the instant cert flashcards. The REA guides give you two or three tests, and a really good overview of the subject.

Test taking is an art, and you will get better at it with some hard work. Before you move on to the next subject, try to analyze what went wrong. You will find yourself getting better at test taking fairly quickly.

Pour over the exam specific threads for the actual experience of others. This is even more valuable than the IC exams themselves.
Best of luck on your future exams.
EC - BSLS Finally done!
Went from 86 to 120 credits in six weeks thanks to IC and the forum.
Currently doing MBA pre-reqs.

I took the exam yesterday and studied for about a week with the flashcards only. I had a 453. Not a bad test. It was also my first with 3 more to go! Heading on to the Substance Abuse one next.
Sorry to hear about your score. I was so nervous about this one and I would be heading back to class if I failed the first one.
