Transcripts

I am taking my first test next week and I'm unsure of what to do with the scores. I haven't enrolled in Excelsior yet so do I just have the scores sent to me? When I enroll do I just contact Dsst for a transcript? Help I 'm so confused!

Thank You!

Welcome to the IC-Forums!!

Check out: http://www.getcollegecredit.com and you can make your request from them when your ready; there is a $20.00 transcript fee. When you enroll, an "official" copy will need to be sent to EC, you just have to provide their address to the DSST transcript office.

i think you can send it to excelsior anyway and they hold onto it for awhile. it could save you $20. i'd send it anyway because when you go to enroll it might be there for you. Big Grin

I plan on enrolling in Excelsior at some point, when I complete a few more tests that go towards the core component. What I have been doing is sending each test to Excelsior College. It is free to send to one college when you take the test. Excelsior College will keep them on file for 6 months even if you have not enrolled.

I did apply so I am not sure if that is a factor or not.

I sent 33 credits to Excelsior prior to enrolling. I'd just indicate Excelsior as the school to have the scores sent to when I took each exam, and when I enrolled everything was automatically in my status report.

Good luck,
Ana

Thank you for all your help. I guess it wouldn't hurt to send a copy to excelsior unless of course I fail!Rolleyes Did you just bring the address posted on the website? Sorry for all the questions.

I too went through the "What If I fail" scenario but soon realized that nothing would happen unless I got off my butt and tried. I'm sure we'll all have an occasional setback; the trick is to focus on the positives and learn from the negatives. Research the test you're about to take on this forum, apply yourself in your studies, schedule the test, and Go For It! Keep us all posted with your results.

On CLEP exams, you get to a screen that lets you choose a state (NY) and then a school in that state (Excelsior College), and that's all you need to do.

For DANTES exams, you need a school code. Excelsior's code is 9370; for other schools search here.

For ECE exams, you register ahead of time online.

Make sure you always click to Submit your score Results when you're done with your test. Don't "chicken out" and choose not to submit your results. The fact is, a lot of people feel scared that they may have failed an exam, but then they click to see their score and they're pleasantly surprised.

You have nothing to lose if a failing score is reported to your university--they only deal with the passing scores. By choosing not to submit your results, you still have to pay the testing fee, and you still have to wait 6 months to test again, so it's a lose/lose situation.

This applies only to CLEP tests, by the way.

This may not be relevant to you, but I just thought I'd throw it out there since you had the "what if I fail" thought going through your head!
