I couldn't agree more with this thread. I have tried several times to ask this school general tuition questions, as well as questions regaridng their certificate in accounting as well as how some other courses may transfer, and they either do not respond to my emails, take weeks to respond, or respond with comments staating they "cannot help me as I a, not an enrolled student".
I find it unacceptable practice to force me to enroll just to ask a question especially when considering, as I am an international student, If I was transfering in 100 % of my courses for a bachelor's degree, they would still feel the need to charge me approxixmately $3,740.00 to graduate.
This is nearly twice the amount that EC and COSC charges, and if I were transfering in any testing credits, which I am not, as I have never taken a clep or dantes test and never will, It would be even more.
With the higher costs of TESC, and the lack of a GPA for transfered courses, I see no benefit in chooseing TESC over the other two schools.

derek10rr3, can you please explain why it would cost more if you had some CLEPs to transfer in? I didn't know about this and am just curious. Thanks.

I said this about TESC a couple of years ago. If you don't shell out $75.00 beforehand, you get no answers. Their counselor (I was amazed to have been x-ferred to the Crown Palace) said as much. His statement was almost to quote, "Answers cost money". That did it for me. I live about 30 miles away and I figured they could shove it. Excelsior is much better customer service wise, hands down. They got that New Joysey thing going on over there at TESC. I don't know if it's ignorance or arrogance or the combo, but they sure don't have the right business attitude. AND THEY ARE QUALIFIED TO GIVE A BUSINESS DEGREE OUT.....Go figure.

Both Charter Oak and Excelsior answered questions for me when I had not given them a dime, and they were pleasant about it.

.
This is exactly what happened to me. Nobody in any department would answer any simple questions. I couldn't even get an answer as to tuition costs. I'm being 100% honest and not trying to say anything inflammatory. The big joke was after paying enrollment the service in my case was not any better. They have this system where you send a message with your question through their support desk. My problem has been that they mark your support desk question as 'complete' and 'solved' even when they haven't bothered to answer it. I think they do this to make it appear as if all questions are being answered promptly.
In my case they have given out wrong information via the support desk system and were quick to mark my question "solved". 3 of my support desk questions were answered by advisement personnel who did not even bother to look up my records. I know this because in the answer would have been completely different if they had not been so lazy as to answer my question without looking at my evaluation and the OL classes I was in at the time. Twice when they did this it cost me time and money. How can they give correct answers specific to a student if they answer the support tickets without bothering to look up the students information? Don't trust the information the support desk tickets contain. Look things up for yourself and you won't be mislead by advisers.

Did you end up finishing your program with that after all that? Or did you transfer elsewhere?

After they got the high $$ enrollment fee from me they had me over a barrel. It would cost too much to switch schools now. I'll finish with TE because it's a very quick route to a degree. Maybe TE just has too many students to be able to give decent service. But I'll never understand why even after repeat calls and getting the run around they wouldn't tell me the tuition costs or answer simple questions prior to admission. The other 2 of the big 3 answered my questions when I wasn't admitted. TE is OK for me b/c I'll be moving on soon.

I can't imagine what it would be like having to deal with them via email but all of my telephone correspondence has been spot on. They answer within 5 minutes and transfer me to an advisor whenever I have more in depth questions.
With regards to the GPA issue, for me it was better to take 1 class from TESC and graduate with a 4.0 rather than having them "grade" one of my low test scores such as the case with Financial Accounting or Business Law. This way, I can study right up until the point of diminishing return and then go take the test. If I had chosen Excelsior, this time saving approach would have negatively impacted my gpa.
I guess we can all be thanful we have 3 options to choose from each with their own positives/negatives.

It's not that they have too many students. Excelsior outnumbers them 2 to 1 in that category if I'm not mistaken. Their customer service sucks and they are lacking in other areas plain and simple. This is a pretty common complaint. I wanted to complete my degree through them because I liked a couple of their programs but their attitude was the stopper. I have not had that problem w/Excelsior. Their service was very good but their alumni mailouts got annoying. TESC is their own worst enemy.

That has also been my experience with those schools. I probably emailed Excelsior ten or more times before I enrolled and they always answered my questions. Charter Oak was equally impressive.

My husband shelled out the $75 and they STILL won't answer basic course requirement questions because he's not enrolled.
