Exciting news! For just $200 a month, you can now access the full o1 model—the very same model available in the $20 subscription tier. But wait, there’s more! You’ll also get exclusive access to the pro version (which is probably the same thing with a shinier name).
According to rumors, OpenAI is rolling out this bold new pricing strategy:
- Base o1 Model: $200/month
- Pro o1 Model: $499/month
- Max o1 Model: $998/month
It's like a subscription tier for your subscription tiers!

I don't mind paying for it. It is really worth it; it solved too many problems that I had.

I still don't get it, why would you want to pay $200 when it's the thing as the $20 subscription you mentioned?

It's very limited on the $20 Plus subscription. Only 50 messages a week.

Hmm, 50 messages a day may be better for a $20 subscription, but 50/week is useless...
If someone doesn't need all that AI power, wouldn't going for a freebie work for them?

The o1-mini is almost as good as the o1 model, and the $20 plan gives you 50 messages per day.

This is madness, every time I walk into a coffeehouse, I see at least one person intensely asking ChatGPT questions like they're dashing to get their last train out of town, and that's up here in Canada. I can only imagine this around the world, they will be getting a lot of paid subscribers. Still, if you can ask a balloon price, and have people to pay it, why not? Nothing is really comparable at Google I would argue, I have been let down by Gemini more than once.

Can you make the money you invested to use this new model?
I do not believe it is very cheap if you do not use it a lot.

If you think o1 is expensive, o3 costs $1,000 per prompt! (No joke.)

o1 is best suited for researchers and academics. Most people don't need the slight boost in precision that the o1 model provides. Another way to pay for o1 is by using the API.

You could make a lot of money using LLMs, from developing programs to creating content such as books and more.
