I think anyone who can afford a Mac should be worrying about free and cheap exams
Really? My Mac is 5 years old! It was a gift so I didn't buy it. Maybe judge less others. You have ZERO clue what's going on in people's lives. Maybe instead spend that energy on learning how to type a cohesive sentence.

That's one of the reasons I didn't or don't recommend using CLEP remote proctoring, they're using ProctorTrack, there was a security breach, I think ProctorU also had one... I don't use either and wouldn't recommend any remote proctoring unless it's with Study.com and other providers that use something else (recorded, vs real time with a person/proctor looking at you).

EXACTLY! They have a basic, but partial, system check. It's all kind of half of what it should be. I passed their initial system check but, because there isn't full parity between them, that doesn't guarantee you'll pass the separate system check within the proctor track software, as I found out.
Going in to an exam you're (I was) hyper focused. And it is stressful. So having to suddenly divert all of my attention to troubleshooting the blocker their system threw, completely put me off my focus and attempt at relaxed flow for the exam. Extremely frustrating.
Overall there are five or six different, separate software systems interoperating through APIs, in order for them to proctor exams remotely. It's total patchwork of stuff. The reason for it is ACE has farmed it out to an offshore vendor that can meet the baseline technical requirements, at least at the feature checklist level, but not provide a user experience to 2025 expectations. It's all very Windows 2000-like, in my opinion. I couldn't even leave my USB mouse plugged in! The system would bog down and stream in steps of frozen screens. I'm sure because of the "listener" for any software opening in the background.
It's definitely worth the drive to test on-side, at a physical test center, when we can.

A lot of Mac stuff is overpriced like 4X what it should cost given the components.
Though the Mac Mini I bought myself recently:
