SDC: Computer Science 105: Introduction to Operating Systems
#1
Hello,

I am about to take this course (Computer Science 105: Introduction to Operating Systems) and I am wondering how time consuming and difficult it is. I am not worried about the quizzes as they have 3 attempts so I reckon I can get at lest 90 out of 100 towards my final grade. What worries me is the final. Has anyone taken the course recently and could share some info about it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you're getting 90 out of 100 on the quizzes, then you're good to go for the final exam, it's not hard at all... I finished the course in a day, but that was a long weekend and I had plenty of time if I recall correctly. Not much has been updated on the class, if you prefer, you can do a practice exam and then go for gold...

This is more of an intro to computers course meant for beginners. It's pretty easy.

You could take these placement tests to test out of some of the quizzes for the Operating Systems course

https://study.com/academy/course/intro-t...ourse.html

https://study.com/academy/course/informa...tions.html

Take the practice final exam before attempting the final exam.  You should score around 10% on the final of what you scored on the practice exam.

Do you think I could do Computer Science 201: Data Structures & Algorithms together with Operating Systems?
I have a 3-day weekend coming so I am thinking about doing Operating System over that weekend (I will be free for most of these 3 days). I reckon if I could finish Operating Systems over that weekend (say a whole week plus the weekend) I could probably squeeze in Data Structures & Algorithms during the same month?

I am not sure if I understand it correctly. I could do placement tests for those two courses and they would count towards my Operating System Course?

Basically, If you have a month membership for Study.com, you can have up to 5 classes done, two included in the month membership, and 3 more at $70/extra exam. You should be able to complete the Data Structures along with the Operating Systems class. I would do one after the other, Operating Systems first and then the Data Structures...

Thank you! This is my plan. I will do the Operating Systems over the long weekend and then move to the Data Structures. Hopefully all goes well.

Yes.  Try it, as they only take about 5-15 min each.  Report back results.

I had around 1/2 of the operating systems course done after I did all my courses.

I scored 22/30 on Placement Test: Business 109: Intro to Computing
I scored 20/30 on Placement Test: Business 104: Information Systems and Computer Applications

Are you suggesting that I take these courses before the Operating System one?

No, don't take the courses. You only need to take the placement tests. By the way, did it complete any quizzes for the operating systems course?

Here’s how Study.com works: lessons from one course can be used in multiple courses. So once you complete or test out of a lesson, it completes quizzes that use that lesson in all relevant courses. You can then skip those lessons since you already have the knowledge.

Therefore, if you have several Study.com courses to take, it’s quicker to take all the placement tests first rather than completing the courses.

Here's another one that is common to a lot of Intro to Computer courses.

Thank you! Only a few (optional) quizzes were transferred. Anyways, it was worth a try and I might have a better transfer rate with other courses Smile
