Argh, doh... only areas in selective states will have a good view... nothing on the Pacific North West...
Oh well, nothing to see until it's all 'recorded for later' on the news! Better than nothing though...

We are in one of the areas of totality. Schools are closed and lots of events. But honestly, I don’t know if I am going to try to see anything. I did get the special glasses though.

I'm close enough to totality. It's a short drive for me.
This eclipse is definitely a good excuse to close work and schools and have a party. It is interesting because it will affect many major cities.
Niagara Falls and Buffalo, New York, seem like the best places to be if you are close to the east coast.
Down south, Dallas or Austin, Texas, would be the place to be.
You can type in your zip code to see the extent of the eclipse in the NASA eclipse simulation.
If you get totality, it's a strange feeling when things go from day to night. The bugs will start chirping as if it is night-time.

I will be travelling. I hope to capture a few [film and digital] photos of my own. I am, of course, following all safety guidelines.

Presque Isle, Maine is in the path of totality. UMPI is marking the eclipse with a "Solar-bration."
Commerce, Texas is also in the path of totality. TAMUC is holding a watch party.

I am close to Cleveland. They are expecting tons of traffic. I think we should be able to see it from our backyard. But I'll have to make sure all the shades are closed so my dog doesn't get all curious. LOL

Welp, my son and I sat on the back deck. We had a clear view. Our cameras didn’t have the ability to get any reasonable pictures. But we saw it get dark, birds changed direction, the temp dropped about 10 degrees and it got breezy. Not a cloud in the sky. During the totality, you can look without the glasses. That was kinda neat. And I could hear people around the neighborhood cheering and shooting off fireworks. (There’s always someone shooting off fireworks).

Gotta shoot off fireworks to scare away the dragon that's eating the sun.
