Seeking affordable online interior design degree
#1
Hi there, I've been on the lookout for an affordable online degree program in interior design, and I'm hoping some of you might have recommendations to share. I'm open to both associate degree options and master's programs. Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have come across one intriguing option during my research – the Unimarconi 1 Year "Master in Interior Design", priced at 4,500 Euros (https://www.unimarconi.com/english-cours...-design-2/). However, I'm a bit uncertain about its legitimacy. Does anyone have any insights or experience with this particular program? I'd be grateful for any advice or information you can provide.

Thank you all in advance for your help and recommendations!

Starting at https://www.enic-naric.net/page-Italy I made my way to https://cercauniversita.cineca.it/index....on=refresh

The "Univ. Studi GUGLIELMO MARCONI" is listed as a valid university when it comes to offering degrees online (Telematici). And, of course, Wikipedia isn't always a great source, but unimarconi.com is listed as a valid address for this university https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guglielmo_...University . So, I feel pretty confident in saying that this is a legit website & university.

However, the Italian system is not entirely unlike the Spanish system. And this may be not unlike a titulo propio in Spain. You may be able to use it to get jobs, but it may or may not evaluate as a Master's degree in the US.

This is more akin to a US graduate certificate. 100% valid, but not a full degree and you (probably) can't use it to gain entry to a doctorate. If a graduate certificate will work for your needs, great. Otherwise, you might have better luck elsewhere.

Hmm, basically, they're legit... I think these are official degree offerings, so they should be equal to RA institutions if you need to go through an evaluation. I would do a search for the institution, you'll come up with posts like this: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid401948

Thank you rachel83az. The Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi appears to be a promising option for a master's degree, even if it might not align perfectly with U.S. standards. While it may not be recognized as a master's degree in the United States, if it evaluated as a bachelor's degree, it could still be a valuable educational investment.

I've also stumbled upon several online courses and programs that offer different levels of certification:

The Interior Design Institute (https://www.theinteriordesigninstitute.com/): This program offers a Diploma in Interior Design.

New York Institute of Art and Design - NYIAD (https://www.nyiad.edu/): Interior Design certification program.

Penn Foster (https://www.pennfoster.edu/programs/crea...ate-degree): Penn Foster offers an Interior Design Associate Degree.

OCA - Open College of the Arts / The Open University (https://www.oca.ac.uk/subject-areas/interior-design/): While OCA offers a range of design programs from an Interior Design Foundation to BA (Hons) Interior Design and MA Fine Art.

However, I'm encountering some confusion regarding the requirements for practicing interior design in Florida. As per my knowledge, Florida mandates licensure for interior designers, and an associate degree from Penn Foster may not suffice on its own. OCA seems to be more expensive and time-consuming. As for the other diploma courses, I'm uncertain about their value in the field of interior design.

I don't think the diplomas would work, an associates may work, you should follow up with your state regulators and find out. Penn Foster is also NA, so if they need a Bachelors that is RA, you would need to ladder up to something like Excelsior University and a BSLA taking all your Penn Foster credits...

If lumina already has a Bachelor's degree, as implied by the search for graduate programs, Excelsior isn't going to work. There is no "ladder" there for students with existing degrees!
