Study.com Bio 101L Holy Hell

Hi @Jd0uglas36,

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but, are you referring to BIO 202L The Circulatory System with SDC as an alternative to BIO101L The Living world might be easier? If so, that is good to know because my son is taking Sophia and SDC courses before likely looking at UMPI.

Thanks,

Study's Biology 202L is not in the transfer database nor is it on the list of courses which transfers to UMPI. Biology 202L is Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab. Biology 201L has transferred even though it's not on the list on Study.

I already had credits for the courses, but not the lab work, from military. Chemistry lab was the easiest. Downside would obviously be the cost (about $420 with Sophia discount, for the 1 unit), and having to register and do it during a semester (do it in a 2 month semester). Possible upside, it would be an RA credit. Assuming UMPI would be ok with it, you could Sophia the course and EU the lab. Not sure I’d have this as my general, go to recommendation over SDC, but for someone using financial aide and needing other RA credits too, or something, I think I’d definitely recommend throwing it in with other classes. In general, I’m saying it’s an easy option, not a cost effective option.

At about the same cost would be taking an ASU Universal Learner class for $425. That takes care of both lab and science at the same institution and you get 4 credits instead of just one.
I haven’t taken anything at ASU, but I like the fact that the class and the lab are the same cost as just the lab at EU.

I started, but didn't finish BIO100 and SES106. They looked like fun, but I didn't need another science.

I am waiting on UMPI to look at my transcripts, I will verify if 202L would fulfill the requirement.  I am assuming it would because it is a higher level class with the lab component but you never know.

I would do the ASU course if it aligned with a January start date for UMPI.

I just finished my exam a few minutes ago. The info said 100 questions but it had 70. With everything done, I'm fairly certain I have roughly 250/300 points for the course. Glad it's over with.

I know you're finished, congrats! I completed Sophias Human Biology in 2 days (91%) but I like Biology. Might be an option for some who are worried about Study.coms course.

The only problem with that is UMPI requires a lab science. It can be lab biology or lab physical science. So you can take Human Biology @ Sophia + Chemistry w/ lab or Environmental Science w/ lab from elsewhere. Or you can do Biology 101L @ Study.com or BIO-100 from ASU + Environmental Science OR Chemistry from Sophia. But you need the lab science.

The lab science must come from the same place as the main science. So, you couldn't take Biology from Sophia + Biology Lab from TEL Learning (for instance).
