Study.com Bio 101L Holy Hell
#11
StraighterLine is an option, but I don't think it will be easier than Study. Sophia classes are easier than Study usually. There have been other threads on here about this course and completing the lab first is the most recommended piece of advice I have seen.

I'm concerned that even with 100s on the quizzes I won't do well enough on the test.

Is there another option for people transferring to UMPI for a LS Accounting minor?

Thx!
I was concerned when I first started BIO1L as well, and supplemented from Khan academy and other web sources if I felt I didn’t fully understand a chapter. It took me longer than some of the other Study.com classes but I personally did well in the end. If you keep at it and use Khan Academy and other web sources as needed, I’m guessing you will be fine too. In terms of the labs - after the first one or two labs, the labs get much easier. Good luck.

Holy hell is right, this class is horrible. I got through the quizzes with 100, what are the labs like?

Not sure if you can take Sophia's Human Biology instead. It seems easier.
Sophia is an open-book test and I passed, although there are so many new words that surprised/scared me...

A science with lab is required, the Sophia.org Human Biology can be used for one of the sciences or the Environmental Science, even the Intro to Chemistry course. Essentially, the science with lab is required, anyone can get close to 100, say 95 on the quizzes, have a mediocre final (say 60/100) and on the labs get 60/100. Total you get would be 215 out of 300. You just need a 210 total out of 300...

One option for an easy Lab, if someone wants to spend the money, is to take the chemistry lab through Excelsior. I needed a chem lab and a physics lab. I already had credits for the courses, but not the lab work, from military. Chemistry lab was the easiest. Downside would obviously be the cost (about $420 with Sophia discount, for the 1 unit), and having to register and do it during a semester (do it in a 2 month semester). Possible upside, it would be an RA credit. Assuming UMPI would be ok with it, you could Sophia the course and EU the lab. Not sure I’d have this as my general, go to recommendation over SDC, but for someone using financial aide and needing other RA credits too, or something, I think I’d definitely recommend throwing it in with other classes. In general, I’m saying it’s an easy option, not a cost effective option.

I think UMPI requires that the course and lab be done at the same place, so this is not an option.

Well, darn it. That would equal even more money to take the chemistry course there too. So, unless someone needed the RA credits for UMPI (doubtful they’d use EU for this), it only really becomes viable if they are going to go to EU, since TESU doesn’t have a lab requirement. Well, if you come across someone in this position, the chem lab at EU is easy. Lol

I got through it this morning and finished up, just waiting on Study to grade everything but I figured it out that I passed. Of course after I got done, I realize that Biology 202L would fulfill the same requirements. B202L is more about the human body systems versus cells and genes, that might be easier for some. I would have rather tried my hand at that.

At about the same cost would be taking an ASU Universal Learner class for $425. That takes care of both lab and science at the same institution and you get 4 credits instead of just one.
