anyone got a SNHU bachelor in cs and did masters at a brick and mortar

I am wondering if someone transferred 90 credits to SNHU and went to obtain a masters in cs in Canada or anywhere without any problems. I am worried about the transfer credits from sohpia and others. Thank you.

We have had lots of people do masters at well-known colleges such as Georgia Tech after attending TESU and WGU.

I would check the master's degree requirements and see if they have a minimum of graded credits. Usually, the minimum grade point average is around 3.0, which is easy to get at SNHU.

@ibra999, In addition to the info provided by LevelUP, it may be best for you to provide us more details.  Most Masters programs have requirements, if you complete the SNHU, you have 30 graded credits which they'll look at for admissions including other info such as your certs, experience, volunteering, etc.

Are you working in CS or IT now? The more practical experience you have, the less your GPA and school you graduate from will matter.

A masters program doesn't "transfer" your undergrad credits, they simply require that you have a bachelors, and look at your experience, grades, etc... to make a decision about whether they will admit you. There's two situations where the use of alternative credits might be of issue. The first is when the admission dept calculates your GPA. If you have a lot of Credit/No Credit courses, you might not have as many graded courses as they would like.

The second would be if they have specific course prerequisites. It's possible they could decide that an alternative credit course does not fulfill them.

The only way to be sure of those two concerns is to ask the program in question. What we've seen here is that this is not often a problem, so if you are flexible about where you go for your masters, it's usually nothing to worry about. If, however, you have a specific program you wish to enter, it's best to contact the admissions dept now, and discuss your plans with them.

This isn't CS related, but I got my undergrad with a bunch of alt credit, and my friend did 40+ Sophia credits, both at TESU, and both of us were accepted to grad school no problem.

It might be more of an issue if you are aiming for an Ivy League school, but for a typical program, it should not be an issue.

That is exactly what I am trying to do, you read my mind. I am transferring to SNHU from another university because I can't attend in person anymore, my gpa also happens to be 2.4 (i have above average grades in cs related courses tho). I just wanna get over with this bachelor and get accepted into masters program in Ontario, Canada, preferably a 2 year program in order to qualify for a 3 year work permit, but it's not the end of the world as there are other immigration pathways.

I do not work, I am currently a student, I also happen to live in Syria which is a bit of a hell hole at the moment, and our economy is dead. Canada by far has the easiest route to immigration and tuition fees are relatively reasonable, but it seems like entry to their masters program is more competitive than the U.S as they don't have as many universities as USA

I meant that would having a lot of transfer credits from my the previous university in my bachelor, where I did not do very well (2.4 gpa, decent cs relataed courses grades) affect my chances of admission into a masters program as a transfer credit shows up as a "T" on SNHU transcript. according to the admission department of snhu my gpa resets when I transfer there and if I do well in my last 30 credits that would be my new gpa. It is just a matter of the "T" in my transcript in my 3rd year specifically that is worrying me. I noticed some masters program look at your last 2 years + your gpa.

I don't think you're going to get away with hiding your current grades.

I just took a look at three random MSCS programs and they all wanted international students to submit their foreign transcripts. They didn't require you to translate your grades into a 4.0 scale, but they do want to see them.

One of them said they only look at the last two years worth of grades, which might help you.

Edit: If you have a particular school in mind (and it sounds like you do), then I strongly encourage you to talk with admissions now about your plans. They are the only ones who will really know the ins and outs of their program and whether the path you're planning will work.

@ibra999, davewill has provided similar advice as what I was going to mention. You shouldn't need to worry about your previous GPA, what you can do now is to complete your degree and using the residency credits, bump up that GPA. Generally schools will look at the final year, but many others look at the final 2 years of your undergrad. Do you have a list of grad programs from Ontario you're looking at and a specific budget range? Does it have to be a MSCS or something different, such as Data Analytics or Data Science, IT or similar, etc?

Graduate programs in Canada are easy to get into as an international student as long as you stick to the Maritimes, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Only universities in Ontario, BC, and Quebec are competitive I'd say. You will have far more difficulty getting a study permit, though. The approval rates are quite low:
