Tiger Parents? Extra activities at a cost!
#1
Every parent wants their kids to excel and are paying for the price as they would like the best for their kids... and many articles I've read before (not this particular one) point to parents "forcing" kids to take more than they can handle... I really wonder if this would help the child/youth as I have seen articles that students are studying 13-17 hours a day!  Just crazy!  I would never put my kids into these type of situations, but here's an article of many that would do something similar.  Link: Chinese parents find new ways to give their children an edge (ampproject.org)

I don't think the pressure on kids helps. It can lead to burnout, depression, and all of it. And do most people really want to "excel" at high stress levels for years? I would rather have an enjoyable life than serious money and awards. I wouldn't want to have the only job I could do to be some menial labor job, but I wouldn't want to go overboard in being miserable to 'achieve' either.
