And then what you got from a school you tried to send it to as to why they wouldn't accept the credit.
So traditional schools need to review syllabus of a course you have taken to see if they can accept your transfer credits.
This is the case at nearly all traditional schools.
So I sent Outlier syllabus PDF file to the school and they said they can't accept any course taken on Outlier website because Outlier don't have any accreditation as an educational institution. I have never been asked for a syllabus before. Is this a thing that happens?
Or does it only get triggered when transferring a course that has no catalog listing? Now you got me wondering if I need to download the syllabus of every class my stepdaughter has taken to be on the safe side.

Not quite the same, but I remember that TESU asked for a syllabus for some of the classes that ROYISAGIRL took at XAMK. Otherwise, no credit. So it's not always a thing, but it can be a thing to ask for a syllabus.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

So, this is so not true. Most schools do NOT ask for a syllabus. They get WAY too many transfer credits for this to be a thing.
When you take a course, it's on a transcript, and then you transfer that transcript to a school, there's a VERY good chance they won't ever ask for a transcript. I've gone to 5 colleges, every single credits was accepted everywhere, and none ever asked for a transcript.
The only time this becomes an issue is if you are ASKED to provide the syllabus for some reason. For the Outlier courses, which have very traditional names, I'm guessing no school will ever ask for a transcript. Ever.
Until you actually take a course, get it transcripted onto a Pitt transcript, and then send it in and it's rejected, I think you are totally lying on this forum to scare people. NO idea why you'd do this, but your post is bogus. I'm thinking you should be flagged as breaking forum rules.

There are two cases:
Schools simply reject your course credits and go silent.
In that case, you can try to appeal their decision by sending course syllabus.
Or you can ask for pre-evaluation of courses by sending syllabus.
I SENT my Outlier course syllabus to a traditional school and they answered they won't accept Outlier course credits.
Outlier courses are not listed on any part of Univ. of Pitts website and Univ. of Pitts don't provide syllabus for the Outlier courses.
You can try this by yourself. Lying?? FOR WHAT ???!!!
I withdrew from Outlier course and got my $400 refunded.
Breaking forum rules??

I'm trying to help people by giving them warnings.
They should try to send Outlier syllabus to their target institutions and see if they'll accept it.
Outlier DOES provide PDF syllabus files.

Outlier DOES provide PDF syllabus files.
So you didn't get the course transcripted then. Most of your points are invalid as Dfrecore pointed out.

Outlier courses have Univ. of Pittsburgh course numbers.
But none of them show up on Pitts course catalogue page:
https://catalog.upp.pitt.edu/
For that reason, traditional institutions can reject the credits.
This can happen easily.
To guarantee course credit transfer, I ask transfer credit specialist at traditional school to pre-evaluate the courses with syllabus PDF file.
Usually, they give me yes or no answers. For the Outlier course, it was no.
ASU EA course credits transfer easily because they're listed on ASU course catalogue and ASU have made PDF syllabus available.
All of EA courses are directly from ASU faculty members.
That's why I'm saying Outlier is a good idea but bad execution. They could offer their courses via local community college website, and send transcripts via community college.

They'll give you the answers. Lots of things can happen. You mentioned near the beginning of the thread that you tried unsuccessfully to transfer outlier courses to a traditional college. But it sounds like you never completed a course and got it transcripted. Therefore you didn't actually try to transfer anything. You just inquired with a school about potentially transferring courses.
I'm not saying outlier is guaranteed to transfer but I agree with Dfrecore, I think you have some misunderstandings and are spreading some misinformation to scare people off.

I mean, the transfer credit pre-evaluation is 100% accurate. When they say no, they won't accept it.
When they say yes, it's guaranteed to transfer as long as you get C or higher.
So, it's really different and you have to check before you try. It could be that you pay $400 for the courses that won't transfer & and have to re-take the same course elsewhere.
