I'm looking at a History degree, and it says you need Spanish I & II (6cr). Study.com has Spanish I & II, but for only 5cr total. Does anyone know if UMPI brings those in to satisfy the requirement, or if you have to take Spanish II elsewhere for the full 3cr?

It's weird that it comes in as 5 credits and not 6. I was chatting with someone yesterday who was going to ask their advisor about this because they want to transfer it in.
If it only comes in as 5, then my only other thought was StraighterLine which both do transfer to UMPI or a local community college.

Spanish II is only ACE-recommended for 2cr.
I wish they would allow you to take Spanish for the Workplace to make up the credits, but they count that the same as Spanish I.

CLEP, I think that's one of a few options, with ModernStates, it's a no brainer even if you have to go to a test center to do it!

I know it comes in as 2 credits. It's really weird! I wonder if it's a typo.

Not sure why ACE decided some courses are worth 2 credits. Risk Management is another one of those courses that are worth 2 credits. Someone here on DF took that course for UL AOS credit, and they didn't know it was only worth 2 credits.

It is not a typo. Spanish 2 at Study.com transfers as 2 credits but it does fulfill the Spanish 2 requirement for the History degree. I confirmed this with Jessica today.

I would strongly recommend getting the credit at Study.com or taking the CLEP and transferring it in. The YourPace Spanish 2 is having some design and technical issues that are being dealt with right now. I was the first person enrolled in it apparently and I decided to drop it today (I was given several options). They are meeting to discuss plans to fix it this afternoon, but I would be cautious about taking it until it has been confirmed to be finished.

UMPI says it's 2 credits. I don't know that it has anything to do with ACE.

ACE recommends 2 credits for that course. Schools don't have to always follow the guidelines.

On the UMPI Study.com equivalent page, it says 2 credits there also
https://study.com/college/school/umpi.html
So I would guess they make you earn that 1 extra credit somewhere else such as the free electives so you have a total of 120 credits for the degree.
TMcClary, it's good that they are accepting Study's Spanish II. You were in a pretty bad situation.

There's no possible way I'd pass the CLEP, it's not an easy one to do, and I'm nowhere near knowing the language well enough to even take a shot at that. For those that have to take Spanish I & II from scratch, Study.com is the way to go I guess.
